cry baby

i just cried at work. we are really busy and i just can't deal with people being assholes to me.  i am trying so hard to do everything perfect for these people.

i just bursted into tears in my PM's office.  and then i went to the bathroom and my client PM from my indonesian project happened to walk in while i'm crying.  so embarrassing.

letting go of being in the "know"

i gave up facebook and tv for lent. and much to my surprise i have actually enjoyed not being connected.
everyone wants to be in the know. we want to be connected and informed. i can't resist knowing who got engaged, who posted pictures from the weekend, or updated their status on facebook. but really i couldn't keep up. it becomes too much. information overload.  and i don't know why, but that stressed me out for some reason.
i want to mind my own business. if there is something else i need to know, then i figured someone will tell me.
it is still a guilty pleasure of mine to do a little facebook stalking.  i won't be giving it up permanently.  but it is nice to have the excuse as to why i didn't comment on the latest baby picture you posted, or why i didn't send a happy birthday message on facebook and not feel guilty about it.

weekend recap

what a great weekend... this will be a long one.
my best friend's babies celebrated their first birthday on saturday!  the party was of course the cutest birthday party i have ever seen. flag banners and polk-a-dot balloons everywhere, paper flowers with pictures everywhere, a snack table for babies, just so so wonderful and crafty, thank goodness she had a professional photographer there to give this party the proper documentation. i did take a few shots to share.  i hope the twins can look back at this and realize what a super cool mom they have.  how will anyone live up? answer, they won't. period.

grannie-boo and gg were here to enjoy the weekend with us.  gary and mark came over for dinner saturday night.  (anthony made us chicken marsala ... fantastic. he is so perfect in every way.  be jealous... i'm just telling you. if you aren't, you should be.)  gary and mark's relationship is a "worn-in" relationship these days.  do you know what i mean? they have inside jokes and pick on each other. so cute.  i'm happy for gary.  he needs it in his life.

sunday, i took the womans shopping to old town spring.  every shop was decorated with spring things and easter displays.  i wanted so many things to make this old house cute and fresh, but stopped the temptations and decided on a little easter duck for annie's bedroom.  annnd a creme brulee orleans candle!! out of character for me, but omg the deliciousness of this smell.  then after shopping we came home to a little neighborhood crawfish boil in my backyard.

i woke up at 4:45am this morning to make my way to tulsa to check out some skids i have designed that are about to be shipped to indonesia.  it was extremely satisfying to see my designs go from drawings to real life.  i inspected the skids from top to bottom.  climbed the ladders, looked at vessel supports, shook the superintendents hand and was back to houston for dinner.  it truly amazes me that a person can travel so fast with airplanes. (i was very calm on both flights. caught up on my parenting magazines.  and got some great ideas for blogs i want to write about.)

anthony had a busy weekend in his garden of love.  he is working magic back there.  everything is in bloom.  AND HE STARTED A COMPOST PILE.  i mean, we are green up in here, up in here.  i think i might let anthony act as a contributing writer on here and discuss his garden secrets and compost strategies.

this week:  study study study. enjoy anthony and annie. be the best version of myself.

Four Generations

shirley, anne, nicole and anne.... all under one roof.
it is oh so delightful. like christmas morning.

i'm sending the ladies off to andi's to get their hair done this morning while i'll be home studying.

i'm listening to them getting ready upstairs while i'm down here writing this.  anne- "did i put deodorant on this morning?  i can't remember..." shirley- "anne, don't ask me, i have no idea.  and don't even ask me to smell your armpits!"
see what i mean? love these women.

peace.

just messing around with hues

Ears & Easter

annie had a very loooong ear dr appointment yesterday. her dear ole dad had to take her and i think he might be traumatized for life from this visit. turns out both ears were infected and full of fluid (though tubes were still intact and looking fine). so the dr had to suck her ears out and give her a shot of antibiotics and do drops twice a day for a week. shala said she could annie screaming from her office. both baby and dad were troopers and the appt was followed by a happy meal. all’s well that ends well.

anthony surprised me last night with an easter wonderland in my house. easter egg wreath on the door, easter eggs hanging from the branches in the dining room. easter egg baskets.. and about 5 bushels of tulips. that boy is pure gold. he knows exactly what makes me happy... and always does it. also my house was nice and clean because the maid came yesterday as well. i love spring time, i love my house to be clean and fresh flowers everywhere. the backyard lush and green and colorful flowers in all the pots. give me a glass of wine on the back porch watching anthony and annie playing in the garden.

shala and dj made dinner last night for willis birthdays and soon to be bruno birthdays. it was very nice. the girls played outside and we sat around and talked about babies and daycares and dr appts. etc. what did we talk about before kids? also i love beth. she is so calm. relaxed but can be no-nonsense when needed.

this morning was my second time dealing with government offices/people. dmv two weeks ago and traffic court this morning. though both task unpleasant and all government offices being the most inefficient places on earth, the staff both times have been extra nice. shocking.
isn't that just sad that we don't just expect people to be nice anymore?? like if we have a good waitress or a nice bank teller. shouldn't everyone in the customer service industry be nice? have people gotten that unhappy with their job/life that it isn’t even expected to be helpful and friendly? just saying...

i’m teaching annie to smile. what a blessing this child to me

anthony said he needs to put away his winter clothes.  got me thinking...should i do the same.  declutter my closet, throw my coats in the upstairs closet.  why not?
and then arrange my shirts and pants by wear to work or play. i'm on a decluttering war path. watch your back desk drawers i'm coming for you soon.
