birthday wishes and cupcake dreams

i had such a fun time at dinner last night. we "surprised" jessica at Lucio's BYOB restaurant for her burfday! such a fun monday evening treat.. (i think she knew we were coming though) the food was delicious! i've only been there one other time and it was yet again fantastic. and i brought some cupcakes from Treat (the northwest version of Crave). oh so sinful and crazy sweet goodness. and the complete and total enjoyment of jessica, josh, sarah, john and aj. i never knew what a funny man John Schnure was. he cracks me up! i assume many people probably already know this about him, but i just guess every time the group gets together i never had a chance to just sit and listen to him crack jokes because it is always boys in one room, girls in the other. also, come to find out john is my movie/tv show twin. a little tosh, a few documentaries.. lucky girl, sari.

my major project is winding down, which makes it very hard to work. it is like those last few chores you have on your to-do list that you just have no interest in doing... so you put them off. that is what is going on right now.

and now on to shower talk..
i'm trying to figure out if this craft idea for catherine's shower is even possible. i want to have iron on appliques of bowties and ties precut and then let guest iron them on to white bibs. i've seen this same idea done on a blog i read... but where do you get the super cute iron on fabric from to make the appliqués? or do i have to just use regular fabric and do some sort of adhesive to the back of it? it just seems like a lot of work, and what if they don't even come out cute. i don't want to spend a lot of time and money on this for it not to be perfect. OK... i just re-read the blog and it said they selected the fabrics and applied heat and bond to the back. then let the guest cut out the design they wanted (in my case i will precut bow ties and neck ties instead), peel off the paper backing and iron it in place. then finish by zigzag stitching the edges. fair enough. looks like i'm going to hobby lobby for lunch.

i forgot to send a major shout out to Dolly and Scott who babysat Annie last night while we went to dinner.  unfortunately, Annie got sick last night and threw up all over Dolly, the crib, the rug, the white bath mats in the bathroom and shower curtain.  Dolly cleaned it all!!!  and then my laundry detergent bottle exploded on her.  when we got home she had the washing machine pulled out and cleaning behind it. like who does that?  cleans up another child's throw up??? she is an angel.  and truly a blessing to me and anthony.  i'm just in awe over it.  and btw Annie was fine this morning.  so i don't know if what she ate didn't agree with her, or she was overly tired, or what. thankfully it was a one time deal.

  2. Ditto!

I tried to plan an iron-on number of months on onesies for Beth's shower and I got too overwhelmed and scrapped it for the same reasons you are stating above. It would be SOOO stinking cute though if you did pull it off! If you had the ties ready and all they had to do was iron, and provide a tag they could write a note to the baby on and tie it to the bib- might seem like they are personlizing it more without actually letting people do anything to maybe mess them up :) Oh also, cutting out fabric w/ heat bond on the back is actually easier than regular fabric because its stiffer and easier to cut from a stencil you trace on the back.

  3. Nicole, They make heat transfer printer paper you can print out cut little ties and bowties and iron those on...they are a little like the heat transfer letters we used on the T-shirts....they are cute, but not sure how long they would last and the quality won't be as good or as cute as using the fabric. You could also look at Hobby Lobby for a fabric glue....something like that might work...I don't know, just an idea....Good Luck and let me know if it works...I will be planning a shower in the August / September time period for Bobby's cousin.
